PROGRAM AND DESCRIPTION OF CLASSES

APPELLATE ADVOCACY
Law and procedure relating to appeals and the appeals practice with a practical approach based on real-life situations.

APPLIED LEGAL EDUCATION
One unit will be granted for each 15 hours of participation in volunteer unpaid work in approved legal service organizations by third and fourth year students to a maximum of 6 units. Credits will be granted only for voluntary work in public service organizations, and the program must be approved in advance.

ADMINISTRATIVE LAW 
One Semester/Session - 3 Units 
The relating to the establishment and control of administrative agencies including administrative process, policy, and procedure. 

BUSINESS ORGANIZATION I * 
One Semester/Session - 3 Units 
The law of principal, agent and partnership including the creation and termination of principal-agent relationship, the scope of the agent's real and apparent authority, disclosed and undisclosed principals, fiduciary duties of the agent, the information and liabilities of partnership, employer-employee relationships, agency law as it relates to partnership. 

BUSINESS ORGANIZATION II * 
One Semester/Session - 4 Units 
The law relating to the formation of a corporation and corporate powers, the powers and duties of directors and officers, shareholder rights, capital structure and classes of shares, creditors' rights and remedies, merger and winding up. 

BANKRUPTCY 
One Semester/Session - 3 Units 
The creation,scope, and administrative function of federal debtor proceedings and arrangements; wages, earner plans; insolvency proceedings. 

CIVIL PROCEDURE * 
Two Semesters/Sessions - 6 Units 
The rules relating to jurisdiction and venue, sufficiency of the complaint, answers, counterclaims, and cross complaints, joinder of parties and causes of action, motions, before, during and after trial. The course also includes depositions, interrogatories and other discovery devices. 

COMMUNITY PROPERTY * 
One Semester/Session - 2 Units 
The classification of separate and community property, the management and control of the community property liability debts, problems arising from the dissolution of the community. 

CONSTITUTIONAL LAW * 
Two Semesters/Sessions - 6 Units 
The scope of federal powers, separation of powers, and the Federal System, the Bill of Rights, due process and equal protection, eminent domain. 

CONTRACTS * 
Two Semesters/Sessions - 7 Units 
The law relating to formation of contracts, the Statute of Frauds, third-party beneficiary contracts, assignment of rights and delegation of duties, liability for breach of contract including the law of conditions and discharge, and other related problems. 

CONSUMER LAW 
One Semester/Session - 3 Units 
The law and concepts of consumer protection are elucidated by utilizing Federal Trade Commission Act, State Status, Federal Regulations, Truth-In-Lending Act, Uniform Commercial Credit Code, and the Uniform Commercial Code The course is designed to familiarize the student with a variety of consumer frauds and misreprentation in different settings. 

CRIMINAL LAW 
One Semester/Session - 3 Units 
The law relating to various criminal offenses, including crimes against the person and the habitation, larceny and kindred offenses, attempt and conspiracy rules, the defenses to criminal charges, the procedural rights of the accused. 

CRIMINAL PROCEDURE 
One Semester/Session - 4 Units 
Criminal Procedure in general, substantial emphasis on recent Supreme Court decisions affecting the procedural rights of the accused, criminal trial practice and techniques. 

The above courses are not meant as an exclusive list. Courses and content may be added to the curriculum or dropped from it at the discretion of the administration. Each unit represents 15 hours of classroom instruction.
